I has taken me six iterations of this symbol to finally achieve the desired effect. For those of you who are a little curious this symbol is not just a creation for my dear friend Vermatalion it is also an expression of the Deep Art, one of my few forays into the deepest and most abstract of the Schools of the Art of the World.
I have learned something of value out of this, when at work with the Deep Art the wrong thing can be the right thing. [sighs] That does not make too much sense, I know, but it is the only other lesson out of three that I have managed to learn of over the past five years.

Unlike before I shall not explain to much about the "civilization" to whom this symbol belongs as I shall assume that you have a moderate intellect and some knowledge of science and fiction, or if you are in doubt, ask.

As the War of Unification drew to a close the remaining Shevanni factions began to make more and more desperate moves to ensure their victory. Without the technological insight of the Kalhatma the Shevanni's civil war slowed down as fleet resources began to dwindle conflicts shifted from space battles to planet-surface warfare.
Eventually the war boiled down to the control of a number of strategic locations scattered over the tattared remains of the Unions territories. For sometime it seemed that the war had reached a stalemate as the three sides did not appear to have the resouces needed to defeat the others. This was however not the truth, at least not for one of the three factions, the "Unionists" were rapidly retrofitting their Irridians with their new radical power sources which they had now perfected (or at least so they believed) from the remains Terasis.
So they made their final assault on Arithys, the Shevanni homeworld and the coreworld of the "Separatists", and attempted use the "Unification Process" to merge themselves with each other on every level. However the "Separatists" were prepared and attempted to short-circuit the process via there own creations.
And that was when something happened that none of them had expected.
Arithys itself came alive and struck out at both the "Separatists" and the "Unionists", not destroying them but releasing them from the constraints of their existence and merging them with all live and material present immediately above and trought the entire planet.
The effect did not end there, Arithys used the vast energy contained in the power sources of the Irridians to "reach out" to the other surviving Shivanni worlds and duplicate the thing that had begun on Arithys there aswell.
This mass spent quite some time adjusting to itself and the new world in which it existed (it took nearly two whole historical ages - about 3 billion years on our time scale) before finally deciding to venture out into the universe again.
And that was from were the "Elders" came. They are the sapient and sentient material of several planets who seek to oneday join all of existence in a union far greater then the one that they experience. Although how they intend to go about this is a mystery.

I have deliberately decided to make some Star Wars refrences here merely for the humour of it, the full historical document of Galaxy 611 should elaborate on most of these points and a number of things that I have not explained here.
And yes your thoughts and opinions would be appreciated not just on the symbol above but on the origin and core idea of the "Elders".

It is very intriguing just to look at! It also makes me recall the history of the Choujinzoku, more commonly known as the Chozo, and the Luminoth histories in Metroid. Very intriguing...

That is only a fraction of a much larger story.

That is certainly true, however, most "sci-fi" has about as much depth as a tide pool.
